2018-10-28Brunello the Big Red Wine Tour
Pierpaolo was an awesome tour guide! We were fortunate to have him to ourselves that morning. Having his knowledge of not only the wines (he is on his way to becoming a sommelier) but the region, Italian history, and other fun facts really enriched our experience on the tour. We stopped at two Brunello wineries - one medium-sized and one smaller. It definitely helped that we had done other wine tours and tastings in the past, as Brunello is grown and aged with higher standards than most other wines. We learned a lot, and more deeply appreciate why Brunello is both so delicious but also more expensive than other wines imported here to the States. It will change your views on wine and allow you to appreciate them more. Also, the three-course lunch at the second winery was to die for! The fettucine with boar and beef ragu was perfect. And the view was amazing as well. We hung out, sipped some wine, walking into the 'strawberry grape' room/ No further description, just do it. Worth the trip no matter how many days you are spending in the Tuscan area.
