San Gimignano Highlight of our trip!
My wife and I booked the Vernaccia di San Gimignano shared tour on 9/28/18. On this particular day, no other people booked the tour so we received a private tour from Pierpaolo. On the way to our first stop, Pierpaolo gave us a crash course on Tuscan wines and the region in general. It was a beautiful day so we made several stops for pictures outside San Gimignano on the way to the winery. Our first stop was Cesani, a winery, and agriturismo. We were seated in their beautiful patio area and tasted two varieties of Vernaccia (paired with pecorino cheese), three varieties of red wines (including Chianti and Super Tuscan) and their olive oil. Pierpaolo and our hostess at Cesani were extremely helpful in giving us tips on how to properly taste wine. We also had some time to walk around Cesani's beautiful grounds and take a few photos. Our second stop was at Casa Alle Vacche where we had a delicious lunch (which included a charcuterie platter and two types of pasta dishes) in addition to tasting their wines. The wines included another two types of Vernaccia in addition to two more types of Chianti and a dessert wine. After lunch, we toured the winery grounds and saw the bottling process in action. After leaving Casa Alle Vacche we stopped in beautiful San Gimignano. Pierpaolo dropped us off outside the medieval gates and we were able to explore the town for around 45 minutes. Overall we had an amazing time on the tour. Our guide, Pierpaolo was incredibly genuine, accommodating and a great conversationalist. His knowledge of the region, its history, and its wine made this tour the highlight of our honeymoon. I highly recommend booking this tour with Pierpaolo specifically!
Chianti 3 Winery Tour. Best experience of our trip to Italy!
The wine tour with Vittorio was, by far, the best experience of our time in Florence. He is a sommelier and extremely knowledgeable about not only the wine but also about the history of Florence and Tuscany. Our group of five had an incredible time at three different wineries – two small, family-run vineyards and one larger, more commercialized vineyard (Ruffino). All three were beautiful and the staff were friendly, informative, and welcoming. The lunch provided at the second winery was an intimate experience with the owner of the vineyard providing an incredible home-cooked traditional Italian meal and sitting with us, sharing stories and fellowship together. Vittorio spent the entire day with us, providing information on how to properly complete a wine tasting, information about the grapes of the area and the history of the production of the Chianti wine, as well as providing more information about the history of Tuscany. We could not recommend this tour more highly. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip. We already want to come back for another wine tour with Vittorio in Tuscany.
Great Nobile di Montepulciano Wine Tour with Vittorio
What a fabulous day! We spent the entire day yesterday touring wineries around Montepulciano...Le Berne, Romeo, and Godiolo. We got a far more detailed look at winemaking than any other tour or tasting we have ever been on. We met the families, tasted fabulous wines and learned about the local winemaking traditions/philosophies. Our guide was as interesting as he was gracious and very very funny. We shipped a few hidden gems home to our friends and took some home to drink before we leave. If you've never been to Montepulciano, it is one of the most beautiful small towns I have ever seen. It is where "Under the Tuscan Sun" was filmed. It is a two-hour drive outside Florence, but if you have the time, it is worth every minute of the drive. At the pick-up point, we met some people who had done the truffle hunting tour. They were so excited about their experiences, we booked a second tour with Italy and Wine! We can not wait. This is a great tour company and a fabulous way to spend a day in Florence!!
Castle and Chianti Wine Tour - Highly Recommend
My wife and I took a tour with Vittorio to the Chianti and Castles wine tour. We've taken multiple wine tours before, but this was by far the best experience we have had. Vittorio is very knowledgeable and puts a lot into each tour, he makes sure each winery is the best choice in the region. He has great relationships with the owners, which gives the best experience out there. Cannot praise this tour enough! We learned a lot and enjoyed each wine we tasted very memorable experience. The spot for lunch had great authentic Italian food.
