If you are considering a guided winery tour while in Florence Italy and Wine is definitely the way to go. I was hesitant about the cost, but since going on the trip I have to admit that this was my favorite day out of the entire 3 weeks I spent in Italy. Vittorio is extremely knowledgeable about both the wine and the history of the region, and is able to talk about his passion for wine in a way that even the most novice of wine drinkers will understand.

Four of us went on a tour of the Chianti Castles, and came away forever changed. From the amazing scenery, the behind the scenes at YOUR pace tours of the 2 wineries, to the amazing wine and olive oil tasting, the very good light lunch, none of that matched our guide Vittorio's attention to customer service and his education of us "novices". And everything was simply amazing and a perfect as you could get, so that tells you a little about Vittorio's skills as a guide. Vittorio gave us more information, without being pretentious or annoying, at our pace and at our level, that anyone could hope for in a simple tour. Tour is not the correct word, it was an education and an excursion.
If you have only time for one wine "tour", make sure it is with Italy and Wine, as it was an experience that the next time we are in Italy we will be sure to repeat, as they have many other tours. I know that any friends planning trips to the area will always be given the advice to contact Italy and Wine FIRST, as I do that knowing that they will have an amazing experience as well.
THANK YOU Italy and Wine, and Vittorio, you made our stay in Florence that much more memorable!

My friend and I had a day tour with Vittorio in April 2010. The day was PHENOMENAL, such a wonderful experience. We learned so much, not just about the vineyards we visited, wine tasting and the wines of the region, but an unexpected amount of history and culture about Florentines, their foods, everything. The staff at both vineyards we visited were incredibly pleasant and personable and the views were breathtaking.
I spent 10 days in Italy and took a number of tours, this was probably one of my favorite days. I would highly recommend Vittorio and his company. We were treated so well and were so appreciative of the service and the experience.

I just recently went on Italy and Wine's Montalcino excursion and I absolutely loved the experience. This all day event consisted of a tour of two different wineries in the Montalcino area with an exceptional lunch in between. Even if you are not a wine lover, undoubtedly I would suggest you go on the trip. It is a cultural learning that can not be read about in books you must experience it! Before I went on this tour I was not a wine lover, but that sure changed. I don’t want to spoil everything for you, so I will just tell you a bit of what you do. Learn about the way the industry works the process of growing the grapes and then the techniques used to create the fine wines of the area. At the end you get to learn how to fully enjoy a fine glass of wine from the smell, appearance and taste. After your guide teaches you these things you will never look at a glass a wine the same again! I suggest that anyone that is remotely interested in wine should go on the Italy and Wine of Florence wine tour.

My husband and I did a wine tour with Vittorio and we loved every part of it! Vittorio is so friendly and knowledagle. We didn't know a lot about wine but we felt comfortable and really enjoyed both the vineyards we went to. We ended up buying a bottle from each place and they tasted great at home too. I would definitely recommend this experience, as a way to learn more about wine, but also a wonderful way to experience Florence and the Tuscany countryside. It was beautiful.

I chose to do a wine tour with this company simply because it was one of the first results that popped up on the Google search. I was looking for something interesting to do with my friends when we met up in Florence this June. We're all about 21-22, so we werent sure what to expect with this tour. Well, it was totally worth it!!! If not just for the beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside, the tours itself were AMAZING. Absolutely unforgettable. We did the Castles of Chianti tour. We first visited a smaller, family-run winery- this was my favorite. It felt so personalized, we were given our own private tour and it just screamed "IM in italy!!" haha. Then we went to the Castello di Meleto- super super pretty! And the lunch was very good and educational as well. I absolutely recommend adding one of these tours into your trip. Be sure to bring a credit card/cash- not that they try to guilt you into buying things (they really don't, I appreciated that), but you WILL want something to remember this trip by!!
Oh and don't worry about the italian- they speak perfect english, you'll be just fine :)

My wife and I had a great experience with our guide. We set up a private tour of Montepulciano with Italy and Wine. Vittorio (the President of Italy and Wine) planned everything out including two wine tours and a light lunch in Montepulciano. The guide picked us up from our hotel in Florence and drove us directly to the first winery. He kept us both engaged and entertained during the car ride through Tuscany sharing with us his love of the food and wine in the Region. We had a perfect day and enjoyed visiting a modern winery, a delicious light lunch and walk through Montepulicano, and a visit to a small family winery. This is more expensive than a group tour but a great value given the personal attention. Highly recommended for a couple visiting Tuscany looking for an unforgettable experience with zero hassles.

We're wine aficionados but never had a chance to be in Tuscany before but our Chianti tour exceeded our expectations. Mr. Vittorio del Bono was truly fantastic in conducting our tour in two wineries, very professional and relax atmosphere, small group that felt like a personalized tour. The country side was magnificent and the wine in my opinion was also of great quality, Chianti Classico, the super tuscans, the vinsanto, you name it!. La Sala winery was our favority, the host there was excellent. Our mid-day lunch at a local hill restaurant was no less impressive with great food. We can not wait to go again next time! Even if you don't drink, the gorgeous views leaves you breathless.

Our day trip to the Chianti region just outside Florence was a memorable experience. Vittorio was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot from our conversations about wine and the region we were in. There were four in my family, and another couple. Our group visited 2 wineries...and were impressed with the way they manufacture wine, and olive oil. We had lunch at a local restaurant that happen to be one of the better meals on our trip. Vittorio answered all our questions. The wines we tasted...Chianti, Chianti Classico, and the Super Tuscan, were very good. It was fun to take a day off from all the sightseeing that Italy offers...and enjoy some wine, food, and the beauty of the Chianti region.

We had a wonderful day going to Montalcino and trying the amazing Brunello wine! The people were amazing, especially the very cosy and rustic vineyard that was solely managed by one guy! Highly recommend this trip if you are in Florence. I would go again. Also loved the gorgeous and playful dog cookie on the vineyard...

I took the Chianti wine tour in March of this year and it was incredible! We visited 2 different wineries, the wine was out of this world and the staff were so thorough in every aspect of the winery, the cellars, the vineyards, the process, everything. Vittorio was also fantastic, he is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of wine and answered all the questions we had. Lunch was in a traditional Tuscan restaurant and it was by far the best meal i ate in Italy. We had a really great day, and it was certainly the highlight of my trip. I can't wait to get back and travel with Vittorio to the other wineries throughout Italy.

I am an inherently cheap person. I don't like spending a lot of money for, well, anything, but when my husband and I planned our trip to Italy, we decided to book this trip. The prices, compared to other tours, were totally reasonable, but I kept doing the math in my head and thinking "this is going to have to be a WHOLE lot of fun to make it worth it". We got to halfway through the day when my husband and I looked at each other and said "this is some of the best vacation money we've ever spent". By the end of the day I was practically giddy at having gotten so much value for the money we spent.
We went on the Chianti tour with Vittorio as our guide. Vittorio was so kind, knowledgeable, and personable. He went out of his way to really make the experience special, as opposed to feeling like you're just a head of cattle to be shuffled from one place to another. He took his time with everything, was serious about what he was telling us, but was also happy to laugh along with us. The two wineries we visited were spectacular. The guide at each one was absolutely wonderful; funny and friendly and authentic. The wines were to die for. Seeing the countryside with a knowledgeable guide was surreal. The lunch we had was in my top 5 meals I've ever eaten in my entire life, and my husband agrees.
What we knew about wines coming into this tour wouldn't fill, well, a wine glass, and not once did anyone ever exhibit even the tiniest bit of snobbery. We left with a whole new appreciation of wine (and a very expensive new habit that reminds us of our trip every time we indulge). I can't recommend this tour enough- in our 9 days in Italy, this was absolutely one of the highlights. It was worth every penny, and if we ever go back to Florence, a day with Vittorio will be tops on our list of things to do.
Thanks again, Vittorio, for an absolutely wonderful day.

Great tour, had wonderfull time! highly recommend! the guide was very nice, the wine cellar staff very attentative and kind. i like the fact that it was a small goup of ppl, so the whole tour seems very personalized. I liked the fact that we were in no rush, so we could take our time also for taking pictures. overall, it was a fun packed day and i really enjoyed it.

Our tour with Vittorio was the best and most educational wine tour I have ever taken!! He was knowledgeable regarding every aspect of wine making and eager to share it with us. He spoke on a level that I could understand and learn from. The wineries we visited were beautiful and the winemakers welcomed us graciously. All spoke good English which we appreciated. The wine was great, our lunch was fabulous and Vittorio's company was enjoyable. I promise if you take a tour with this Sommelier , he will measure up to your expectations and more. Additionally, I found the wine tours with "Italy and Wine" to be affordable compared to others we researched. Looking forward to making the trip again and we will be certain to tour with Vittorio.

Absolutely amazing tour. My Wife and I did 2 day tours during our Honeymoon and it was incredible! We did the Chianti Classico tour day 1 and the Montelchino tour the second. The wine at each stop was amazing, but our 2 favorites were La Sala and Le Pottazine. We shipped back a mixed case from Le Pottazine and Il Coco and carried back about another 6 from La Sala and Montevechio. Also, the 2 restaurants we stopped at each day were amazing, delicious food and a wonderful friendly staff. Vittorio really does his homework and only selects the best of the best for his clients. Vittorio is also a well renowned Sommelier, and he does an excellent job of explaining the entire process and the rich traditions of the Tuscany Wine Regions. We will definitely call Vittorio anytime we are in Tuscany for more tours, well worth the money!

We spent a Saturday taking the Castle of Chianti wine tour. It was the perfect day spent in the Tuscan countryside. Our guide Vittorio was very knowlegeable and courteous. We visited two small wineries and really learned a great deal about the wines and wine-making process from each winemaker. We were able to actually help harvest some of the grapes and see the winemaking process first-hand. In addition, we were served the most amazing meal at the first winery. At the second winery we even had an olive oil tasting. If you are going to spend more than a day in the Florence region then you must take one of these wine tours!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tour. The pick up was easy, the driver was professional, friendly, and a lot of fun. The 2 winery's we stopped at were among the best in Tuscany. Knowledgable, fun, and the wine was excellent. If you are thinking of taking a tour, I would highly recommend this one.

We went on the Chianti Classico tour with Italy and Wine while we were staying in Florence. Vittorio picked us up at the hotel and was a wonderful tour guide the whole way! He is so good at explaining every detail! We visited two of Tuscany's Chianti wineries where they served us fabulous wine and an amazing Italian lunch. It is such a beautiful region! The most picture perfect day! I would highly recommend this tour!!

While recently visiting Florence we decided to take a wine tour and randomly picked a tour of the Chianti region with Italy and Wine. I could not be more satisfied with the overall experience. The vineyards selected for tasting were fantastic, providing both great wine and tons of information. Even the lunch was better than expected. I don't know if you can recommend or choose tour guides but if you have the option Vittorio can't be bested.

My wife and I went on a tour of the Chianti region during our honeymoon using this company. The guide was very knowledgeable about the region, its history, and the Sangiovese varietal and winemaking in general. The vineyards that we visited were superb and varied, giving us a great flavor of the area. Our guide, Vittorio Del Bono Venezze, was a trained sommelier as well and was very helpful and informative during the various tastings. I would highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I had the opportunity to visit Italy in March 2009. After researching wine tours online, I located Italy and Wine Tours (ItalyandWine.net) which is owned by Vittorio Del Bono. I noticed the company in particular due to the many current favorable reviews. My first email with questions about tours and availability was promptly answered. We were particularly interested in visiting Montalcino to learn about the renowned Brunello wines produced in that area. Vittorio responded that he was personally available and could take us to Montalcino for the requested day. It was enjoyable to see the countryside and villages along the way and to discuss wine with Vittorio who is quite knowledgeable about wines and the area.
On the arranged day, Vittorio picked us up promptly at our hotel in Florence and off we went. The first winery we visited was Tenuta le Potazzine. Upon arrival we were met by the owner, Giusepppe Gorelli, who took us through the stages of production with the help of Vittorio’s translation. The tour was outstanding with discussion about the wine making process, touring the cellars, then tasting of the wines at the end. We learned so much in the detailed discussion from selection of the grapes to bottling and labeling the finished wines. Talk about a personalized tour! The owner, Giuseppe Gorelli, obviously has a passion for wine and is a ‘purist’ in terms of using Italian methods in making the fine wines they produce which include a highly rated Brunello as well as Rosso di Montalcino.
Vittorio had arranged our lunch at Trattoria il Leccio in a charming tiny village nearby. The meal was true Italian fare served with multiple delicious dishes. It was as if we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The food, service, and ambience were perfect. Thank you Vittorio!
Leaving there, we happily headed off for the next wine producer with a lovely intermediate stop at the medieval Sant’Antimo Abbey. Vittorio managed to time this perfectly. We arrived to see the monks walking in for the afternoon chants. We enjoyed hearing the Gregorian chants and viewing the ancient structure and gorgeous setting.
Tenuta San Filippo was our next tour which is the producer of Fanti Wines. After visiting the smaller Tenuta le Potazzine, it was very interesting to hear about the processes and wines of this larger producer. Again, we had a private tour with a charming Italian employee at the company who told us about the production techniques and the wines they produce. We were impressed with the quality and care that goes into wine production even in this larger winery.
We were so happy with our experience of visiting Tuscany for the first time. This tour with Vittorio was one of the most memorable days of the trip! We purchased wines that have now arrived and we will continue to enjoy the fruits of Italy. Vittorio did a wonderful job introducing us to the area and the wines. The tour was everything we had hoped for. We hope to have to opportunity to come back for another adventure in Tuscany with Italy and Wine Tours. Grazie, Vittorio!

It
has taken me way too long to write about my wonderful and beautiful
experience with Vittorio and Italy and Wine. Our Italian trip in
November of 2008 took us to Rome, Florence and Venice; and one of
our most treasured memories has to be the Chianti Classico wine
tour in Tuscany with Vittorio. Our stops included La Sala and Villa
Cafaggio; and we couldn’t’ have been happier with the
great hospitality, and the incredible knowledge and wine expertise
that this magnificent tour took us on. In our visit to La Sala we
thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting with Hilary, not only was she
incredibly sweet but she fully walked us through the experience
of wine production. I brought back two bottles (a shame I didn’t
purchase more) back to California; and it has become a precious
token from Italy. And you can’t leave your wine tasting session
before getting your hands on some Grappa; amazing stuff! My trip
couldn’t have been as wonderful as it was without this wine
tour, it was an absolute blast!! Thank you Vittorio, we hope to
return to Italy and join you once again for another journey through
the Tuscan hills!

We were 6 female gourmet chefs from Norway searching for new knowledge
about Montalcino and Montepulciano wines.
Vittorio picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Montalcino where we visited San Polino, an organic wine and olive producer on the top of the Montalcino hills. He had chosen this producer especially since we were interessted in both wine and olive production. It was very interresting to learn more abour otganic production as well.
Vittorio en an oenologist, and very knowlegeable about the Tuscan wines and the production. He speaks english very well, and is a very plesant person to have as a guide on a tour like this.
We had lunch in a fantastic restaurant on top of a hill with great views og the landscape, and drove back to Montepulciano where we visited a much larger winery. This was in great contrast to our first visit, but very facinating as well.
All in all we were very pleased, and we are already planning our third gourmet/wine trip to Italy. We would like to have Vittorio as our guide on the next tour also if possible.

We had just a fantastic time visiting two wineries in Montalcino. Our party of 10 had mixed knowledge of wine but our guide Francesca got us all knowledgeable during our 90 minute drive from Florence. She spoke excellent english and she was just plain fun to be with. We visited a large wine establishment and a small, husband and wife run vineyard..both great experiences and great wine! We must comment on the "light lunch" that was advertised
as included in the price of the tour. I am not sure exactly what
we were expecting, but we thought we might get a crostini or two
and perhaps a slice of pizza.
To our delight, you took us to a quaint restaurant in Montalcino

Tuscan wine stock.
We proceeded to have a savory Tuscan family style lunch that included
great wine and SIX different delicious dishes! Each one we were

highly recommend the Chianti Classico tour with Roberto and visiting

driven by Roberto. Roberto ' s knowledge and professionalism was
exceptional, making us feel like VIPs for the entire day. Roberto
was extremely attentive to our questions and requests. Furthermore,
we were not shuttled around like a tour group, being told when to
meet back at the car and such. Instead, Roberto joined us for all
events and encouraged a casual atmosphere while teaching us about
Tuscan cuisine, wine and culture. Lunch was delicious and relaxing
at a small restaurant in a small town.
We will do it again next time in Tuscany .

Message: My wife and I took the San Gigmignano tour as part of our honeymoon in Italy. Our guide, Vittorio, really knew his stuff! Early in the tour he asked us a few questions about our knowledge and experience with wines so that he could tailor his tour to our level of knowledge. My wife and I know how to uncork the bottle and drink it, but that's about all. It turns out that Vittorio knew just how to present things for us and really teach us the baby steps of wine tasting. He took great care to explain how to look, smell and finally taste the wine. His knowledge of the processes by which the wines are made as well as what affects the ultimate flavor in one's mouth was very impressive. We toured two wineries, one small "mom & pop" kind of place and another, much larger and more sophisticated. The contrast between the two very interesting but you could tell that both companies took great care and pride in their product. In short, my wife and I LOVED our wine tour. It was the perfect experience! Thank you, Italy and Wine! Marc Minish

We enjoyed both wineries we visited and learned much about both tasting and enjoying wines. Roberto was a great guide and his warm and welcoming personality made for a great day (and lunch in San Gimignano was really fun as well). If you are looking for a tour that invests personal caring into its business then this tour for you.

Both vineyards we visited revealed to us the many complex and intricate details vineyards must pay attention to in order to produce just the right type of wine. It was an enjoyable and wonderful day. I'd suggest it to anyone and hope I am lucky enough to get the chance to do it again.

enjoy thinking about being back there with you. It is hard to believe
it has almost been a year since our visit to Florence and the delightful
tours you provided. As a remembrance I thought I would attach some

We will definitely stay in touch with you as we truly had an outstanding

the delightful lunch (thanks for recommending the wild boar!). I
hope all is well with you.

and we would concur. We met you in mid-January 2008 for a Chianti
tour
and
it turned out to be as educational and enjoyable as we could have
imagined. So many things to remember, starting with the scenery
and the conversations about wines en route to the vineyards. Hilary's
wonderful lessons on getting prepared to drink and then taking a
sip. The tour of both wineries. Those huge barrels at Carfaggio's
(seemingly the size of a one bedroom apartment). And all the sampling.
Plus lunch on the lower level at that out-of-the-way eatery. We
felt that we more than got our money's worth. For ANYONE in the
vicinity of one of your tours, we highly suggest signing up. Among
all the memorable things we saw and did, from Rome to Florence to
Venice on what was our first trip to Italy, our day with you roaming
the Tuscany countryside was among the highlights. Our sincere thanks,
to you and the gang at both wineries. We get back there, we'll definitely
look you up.

Message: Vittorio Thank you very much for showing us good time while we were in Italy. This is Cyndee & Andy Schaub. We took the Chianti tour with you on November 15, 2007. Visting the Vatican, the Ancient ruins, the Uffizi, and the Accademia was great but overall, I would have to say the thing I liked best about our trip to Italy this November 2007 was the Chianti Wine Tour. We especially loved meeting Hilliary at La Salla Vineyards and that fabulous lunch at the little restaurant in the walled town (sorry, can't remember the name. I learned so much from you during our drive over. Most Sommeliers that I speak with seem intimidating, but you weren't. You were very easy to talk to and had a way with explaining things and I felt I came away with much more than just doing wine tour and wine tasting. Your choice in the vineyards you chose to take us to was excellent. I learned even more about Chianti wines when we were visiting with Hilliary at La Sala. And the wines we tasted were incredible! Caffagio Vineyard was lovely, but Hilliary at La Sala made learning about Chianti Classico and reserva more memorable, enjoyable and definitely more a lot more fun. When we got back to the US, the first thing we did was go to Appple Jacks (the local adult beverage store in Arvada) to look for La Sala (unfortunately, they didn't have it), We felt more confident and knew when we saw the Black Rooter, we knew the quality of the wine were were buying and can truly say it no longer is hit or miss with our wine selection. Simple. Just look for the wine bottles with the black rooster. We tossed a coin in the Trevi Fountain in Rome, it is our wish to return to Italy soon. When we return, we will look you up again and this time take the Montalicno tour. Thanks again for putting together this wonderful company "Italy and Wine". We will definitley recommend you to all of our friends. Ciao!

process of winemaking. It was amazing having the winemaker, Mr.
Ferrari himself, explain and demonstrate the process from grape
selection and harvesting to fermentation and distribution. And the
vineyards we visited made spectacular wines (and olive oils, too)!
We can't wait to use our wines and oils to recapture some of the
magic we experienced in Tuscany and during your tour and lunch.
Thanks again for the wonderful memories!

I cannot express enough how great our experience was on
the Chianti tour. Not only were
the wineries we visited outstanding and informative, but your hospitality
and professionalism were second to none. Thanks for making our trip
to Tuscany the highlight of our trip.

"Dear Vittorio, We and our friends really enjoyed our tour to Montepulciano. Being able to meet individually with the winemakers and hearing their explanations about their vineyards was a great way to learn about wine. The lunch was outstanding. Thanks for your willingness to work with us on our food preferences. We also appreciated your being able to schedule the tour on short notice and reschedule after we were snowed out the first day."
