Bolgheri Wine Tour

The Bolgheri village today is not famous for Carducci’s poems anymore, but for the red wines produced in this tiny little area. This “terroir”, to use a French word, made the luck of a few wine producing estates. Many of the flat areas today occupied by vineyards had never seen a vine until 15/20 years ago and also here in Bolgheri the rule of having a great plot in order to make a great wine seems to be valid.

The more famous wineries have regular visiting hours on fixed days of each week (Monday to Friday) and charge an admission fee. All wineries are usually closed during the grape harvest.

On request it is possible to organize day trips to visit wineries in the Bolgheri DOC area and to include visits to local oil mills or to producers of other typical products, in accordance with the wishes of visitors.

• 9.00 a.m. Departure from Florence
• 10.30 a.m. Arrival at Bolgheri and visit Le Macchiole winery . Where you can visit the cellar, finally wine tasting.
• 13.00 p.m. Light lunch at the local restaurant( if is required).
• 02.30 p.m. Driving along the hills where you can see the different type of vineyard.
• 03.00 p.m. Visit the secon winery where you can meet the wine grower who will show you the techniques of viticulture. Eventually wine tasting.
• 04.30 p.m. Departure for to be back in Florence by 6.00 p.m. Have a nice trip!

(Wineries are only suggested, and may be substituted at anytime based on group size and tasting room availability.)
